Sketchbook Play - Print Mixed-Media

On this workshop, you will make your own printing blocks, to add narrative and colour to your sketchbooks! You will make stamps and print blocks based upon a mood-board of ideas. You will print onto various papers. You will end the course with  ideas for building exciting multi-layered drawings and sketchbooks.
I have always loved pattern making. As a textile maker it's in my blood! I love the handmade blocks used to print Indian cloth and the nuances of mark as each block is applied with different amounts of pressure. I'm inspired by patterns of the 1950's and collect old end papers from books and book jackets of that time. I love how the layers are slightly offset and the depth that creates.
If you love pattern and playful, mixed-media discovery, then this course is for you!

If you enjoy sketchbook play, then this course is for you!

If you gather and collect but are not sure how to move your ideas into designs and marks, this course is for you!

My sketchbooks are a meeting place for texture, mark, drawings and pattern, usually inspired by nature. I love to build the pages with these different elements.

In this online class I will show you how I create pattern using stamps and blocks, inspired by nature's motifs. It's a satisfying way to start to process ideas and inspiration that you gather. I also find this process and these techniques an excellent way to kickstart your creative flow if you've lost your rhythm.

You will end the course with a set of hand crafted printing blocks, a mood-board of ideas that you can develop and a way to start building exciting mixed-media sketchbooks.
Here is a little more information about the course. If you have any questions, you can ask me by using the links at the foot of the page.
