Sketchbook Confidence - Fearless Drawing

A gentle, joyful invitation back to your creative self.

This short, accessible workshop is designed to help you loosen the grip of perfection and rediscover the pleasure of drawing freely, intuitively, and with fresh eyes.

You’ll be guided through simple exercises that shift how you see, helping you move through creative block and reconnect with your natural flow.

Working from a bunch of flowers or gathered treasures from the natural world, you'll explore ways of drawing that feel expressive and liberating. What you learn here can be carried into anything you wish to draw, again and again

Even after a life time of art making, starting a new project can be daunting. You want to get it 'right', you want to make images that you are happy to share.

But, before you can do that, you need to get back to basics - to make the drawings that challenge you to get your hand working in coordination with your eyes and brain!

On this course you might not create a perfect image but you will awaken your intentions, and start the path to drawing again - bolder, looser, braver!

A little more insight into the course. If you have any questions, please ask using the links at the foot of the page.

In this online class I will show you how I draw in a loose and experimental way. I want the process of drawing to be a way of getting to know the subject, of working out shape and line. I draw in an intuitive and playful way - engaging my brain to coordinate with my hand and eye. Whilst I am busy I can't let the negative chatter start!!

You will end the course with drawings that are looser, bolder and experimental. You'll also have bust through creative block and have the confidence to draw - your way.

Materials you will need for the class:

  • pens, pencils, biro

  • cartridge paper A3 150gsm or above

  • brown/kraft paper

  • a display of flowers or collected foliage

"Challenging - and worth it. I wanted to see MORE! To my mind that's always a sign of success - when people want more. I especially like the combination of video show/talk and the written commentary below the video."
