Sketchbook Play - Draw Mixed Media

Create your own dynamic sketchbook pages and designs. It is not about accurate drawing but about looking for shapes and marks so you can find your creative flow and create pages that you can then develop in whatever art project you choose.
Over time I have developed my own drawing style, or perhaps I just found confidence in putting marks on paper. Drawing is a process of research, a process of editing and decision making. Being able to turn off the negative chatter about what the page looks like, to lean in to the practice of drawing, to accept myself for where I am at - all helps the journey of interpreting the world around me. Over time drawing gets easier - but the questions around art-making stay. Learning to put one foot in front of the other, one mark at a time on the page keeps the practice alive and so vital to my creativity.
Here is a little more information about the course. If you have any questions, you can ask me by using the links at the foot of the page.

This course includes footage from 'Fearless Drawing' and builds upon what you learned there. If you have already completed 'Fearless Drawing', there is a discount code for this course - contact me via the link at the foot of this page to receive the code.
If you want to draw looser and bolder, then this course is for you!

If you enjoy sketchbook play, then this course is for you!

If you gather and collect but are not sure how to move your ideas into drawings and marks, this course is for you!

My sketchbooks are a meeting place for texture, mark, drawings and pattern, usually inspired by nature. I love to build the pages with these different elements.

In this online class I will show you how I draw from a flat-lay/still -life studio set up. It's a satisfying way to start to process ideas and inspiration, to gain confidence drawing. If you've lost your creative rhythm, I will guide you through ideas to quieten the voices and move you into creative flow.

You will end the course with a sketchbook of bold drawings, ideas to introduce colour and collage and techniques that you can use again and again to create exciting mixed-media sketchbooks.
For this workshop you are going to need:

  • Emulsion paints (interior wall paint tester pots) - or use chalk paint
  • A sketchbook (A4ish)
  • Loose sheets of paper - brown paper/drawing paper/coloured paper/old envelopes/book pages
  • Some basic drawing equipment - pencils, fineliner, posca pen, biro, coloured pen
  • Paper scissors
  • strong glue
  • inks, acrylics or paints
  • small objects to draw
